Shine with rms beauty

Christina Ricci turned heads on the red carpet at this year’s Berlinale, the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival. Makeup artist Stefanie Willman glammed up the actress using some of rms beauty‘s favorite products.

To get this look, Willmann blended the “un” cover-up in 22 and 33 to achieve flawless skin.

She then mixed and applied smile and modest lip2cheek shades to give Ricci’s cheeks a perfect flush.

Lastly, just a dab of rapture lip2cheek onto lips tied the whole look together.

Get Wild with it

The Mulberry Autumn Winter 2012 show was all about the Mulberry Monsters.

The models were transformed. According to infamous hairstylist, Sam McKnight, the look for the hair was ‘wild school girl living in a forest’.

Recreate it for your own Mulberry look!

1: Divide hair into three sections.

2: Plait three cornrows, one along the front, one at the back
and the third at one side.

3: The plaits can be raised, others can be regular.

4: Keep it rough by running your fingers the wrong way up the plaits, this is not a neat and tidy look.

5: Pin the plaits up onto the head in a raggedy fashion.

6: If needed, fix with hairspray and if hair a bit too squeaky clean,
dirt it up with some clay or pomade before you start. We suggest John Masters Organics’ Hair Pomade. It has incredible styling power.

(No combs or brushes were used in creating this look!)

Brow perfection

BROW PERFECTION

“Eyebrows must vary with each individual in shape, size, length, and color. A person’s face shape, cheekbones, and nose all affect the outcome of their brow shape. What I always try to achieve is a very well groomed natural arch that will enhance all of your features and soften your look.” – Anastasia Soare

Anastasia’s secret? The Golden Ratio.

Step 1: Choose the stencil with the brow cutout which aligns with both points A & B

A - The point through the center of the nostril directly up to where it intersects stencil cutout

B – The point through the edge of the nose diagonally to the end of the stencil cutout

Step 2: Fill in Arch with Angled Brush

Step 3: Tweeze hairs Outside the powdered area of the brow Arch

Step 4: Apply Brow Gel

Take these steps using the best brow tools out there.
Shop the Anastasia Collection.

A Few Extra Tips

How to Choose the Best Color For Your Brow

Blondes: Eyebrows should always be a little darker than your hair. Light Blondes approximately two shades darker.

Brunettes: If you are an intense brunette, eyebrows should be about two shades lighter. This takes the edge off and softens the look.

Twist It Up!

Ever wonder how Lauren Conrad gets those perfectly, frizz-free updo’s? Well get the secret straight from the source. This updo looks gorgeous on any hair color but particularly amazing with highlighted hair because it gives the hair lots of depth and dimension. For lack of a better word, I love the way it becomes “swirly”. Best thing is; it’s easy to do, gorgeous and keeps your hair out of your way for the night. I made this a printable tutorial, so all of the steps are next to the photos. Enjoy!

Tools you’ll need: curling iron (to prep the hair with waves), sectioning clips, teasing comb or brush, clear elastic rubber band, bobby pins, light to medium holding hairspray (to mist over at the end).

Step one: Start with wavy, natural hair
Step Two: Clip the front and top up + create a messy bun at the nape of your neck
Step Three: Take individual pieced from the top and front sections and loosely twist
Step Four: Pin that piece into the messy bun
Step Five: Repeat step four and five and alternate sides until you reach top section
Step six: Back comb the crown area for subtle volume
Step seven: twist + pin that sections into the bun gently loosen a few pieces around the face to soften the look.
Step Eight:Add some John Master’s Hydrating Mist for that extra hold and Voila!

Glitzy Ombre Nail Fade

The Tips: Start by applying your dark blue polish all over the nail, followed immediately by the lighter blue polish halfway up the nail and the metallic polish at the tip. Dip a brush in a quick-drying topcoat, then dip it into your glitter and paint over the polishes to help fade them into each other.

The Tools: Dark blue nail polish, light blue nail polish, silver nail polish, loose silver glitter, quick-drying topcoat.

The Tricks: Try this look on some long fake tips for a truly mesmerizing manicure.

WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND Ombre isn’t just for your hair anymore. Make like Lauren Conrad with a manicure that gradually lightens from sapphire to baby blue.

Our Editor’s pick: Union Jack Black, The Black Knight, HRH, No More Waity Katie and Pearly Queen. All by Butter London, and available on Glymm.com!

The Tucked Ponytail

The Tucked Ponytail

Breezy and effortless, the tucked-under ponytail works with any hair texture (and takes no more than a minute). Just gather hair into a pony a few inches above the nape of your neck, wrap an elastic around twice to secure the base, leaving the ends out on the final turn to form a bump. Slide in a colorful comb for extra embellishment. For final touches add some John Master’s Sea Salt Spray with Lavender.

The luscious Ombré Lip Effect

James Boehmer, Director of Global Artistry at Nars, shows us how to take the season’s ombré lip from the runway to real life.

“Ombré make-up effects are more about adding more dimension and depth. For this look, define the top lip with matte color, then gently press the lips together. Blend the color from the top to the bottom by applying gloss to the center of your lips with your finger.”

Try: Mattene lipstick in Potent Fig and Seeds of Desire, clear lipglass. All, M.A.C. We also suggest Principessa Pleasantly Paffutto lip shine in Pink-a-boo.

“Create a 3-D effect on the lips by contrasting not only color but texture. Define the lips with a deep matte red, and then add bright color and shine to just the center with a lip gloss.”

Try: Urban glow cream highlight in Sin (Cupid’s bow,) 24/7 glide-on eye pencil in Bourbon (as lipliner,) lipstick in Confession, Lip Junkie lipgloss in Red Light. All, Urban Decay. We also suggest RMS lip shine in bloom.

The Moon Manicure is Hot this Season

The Half Moon Manicure also called the reverse manicure and crescent moon manicure, is inspired by the 1920s and 30s. We’re a fan of doing beiges at the base and a bright colour at the top—but mix it up for the holidays by using glittery colours. We suggest the colours All Hail The Queen and Chancer by Butter London. (available at glymm.com)

3 layer manicure

Start by painting the nail entirely in a thick coat of one colour. Once that coat is dry, build your first oval shape. Start less than a brush width away from your cuticle, in the middle of the nail. Roll your nail into the brush as you paint, following the natural curve. Once this has had a few minutes to dry, add the second oval—this one will take practice to get right! Again, roll your nail with the brush as you paint, rounding the shape into more of a half-circle than oval.

Two layer Manicure

The crescent moon manicure allows you to really edit the shape of your nail bed into your desired shape—square or squoval (that’s square-oval, for the non-nail lingo types out there) nails can take on the appearance of almond-shaped when you paint a perfect oval. Apply a base coat first, then work on your ovals. (And in this case, I added a feature nail to the manicure with Nars “Space Oddessy” as a base on my ring fingers.) Start less than a brush width away from your cuticle, in the middle of the nail. As you move the brush, sweep it along the side of your nail, rolling your nail into the paint as you go. If needed add another coat, fear not: it’s much easier to follow the second time around. Once you’ve mastered the process for painting a crescent moon manicure, it becomes a great go-to for days when you only have a few minutes to do your nails but still want to have something a little more editorial on your fingers.

Eman’s Glitter Holiday look

The holidays are a time to celebrate with friends and family and why not celebrate in style. For a great holiday look my holiday must-haves are false lashes, glitter and red lipstick. Add a pair of false lashes to play up your eyes and add some drama to your look. Glitter will make any look pop. Be creative with it. You can add glitter to your eyes, use it as a highlight or add it to your lip gloss. A great red lipstick will turn any look to pure glamour. Just remember the holidays are about having fun so have fun with your makeup too.

Happy Holidays!
